FOR THE LOVE OF PEOPLE!!!
Our whole lives we meet various people. Some are assigned to us as family, others we grow up with as classmates, some stick over the years, and others go after months. But each person impacts us or teaches us something, good or bad. Humans are quite unique. We all have different stories, perspectives, life experiences, and handle each moment differently. Our personalities are unique to us, some mesh well with others and some not so much. We are a species of infinite possibilities. The most interesting part of our species is how we interact and impact one another. The power of mentorships, the value of genuine friendships, and lessons we are taught by others. It’s amazing how impactful people can be to our lives and how often we forget to appreciate one another. We tend to live in an individualistic culture and forget the power of community and how supporting others can be so fulfilling in life. I often think of how grateful I am for my friendships and people in my life. I didn’t get where I am right now on my own, and I love that. I love the relationships and conversations I build with people and how much we learn from each other. I think with social media and reading comments and observing more negative than positive we forget how wonderful humanity can be, how strangers can be genuinely kind and that not everyone is out to get them. How finding a community in a coffee bar can turn into growing friendships and growing a business. The world is full of wonderful humans and it takes us to believe that our community and our people are out there!

The Wonderful Humans in our Lives
I think back on the many jobs, schools, and workplaces that I’ve been and the network of people in my life. I have friends all over the country and in other parts of the world. It’s so hard to have one best friend because I love all my friends individually for unique aspects. I love that I have friends who are fellow artists but also nurses, dog trainers, pilots, business owners, designers, and much more. I get to learn from them, hear their stories and passions and reasons why they are who they are. We have mutual loves from how we became friends weather it was from being in band together in middle school, being rivals in golf competitions, having a love for photography and travel, loving neuroscience, design, or just being genuinely down to earth, these are all topics that gained me my best friends and people I love and learn from today. It’s amazing to say that I have friendships that have lasted me over 10 years. I’m still friends with my bffs from 3rd grade, another from 6th grade, and friends with my high school rival golf competitor. All now over 10 years of being friends and living hundreds to thousand miles apart. We don’t talk every week, we rarely see each other, but when we do see each other it feels like time never passed. I cherish these friendships, they are friends that I know would drop anything for me if I need it and I’d do the same for them.
Our life teachers
It’s not only our friends that help our world go around, it’s also our life teachers, mentors, and those who hurt us. We have learned a lot from those who have hurt us, from those who had to make us create boundaries and those who helped us realize our weaknesses by taking advantage of us or using us. Unfortunately, a selfish society can sometimes hinder our inherent kindness, teaching us to prioritize our own benefit. Many of us have had a lot of life lessons from how others have treated us, our perspective is shifted, and our world can sometimes feel darkened, that’s when we turn to our people who give us light. Our mentors, advisors, and life teachers. I love having people in my life that are older than me. I get some of the best advice and perspective from those who have lived longer than I have. I truly value mentorships, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve many of my accomplishments without mentors in my life. I’ve had a few professions that I tried to go after and I made it far in many, it’s all because I seeked out mentorship and advising. Now in my 30s, I'm truly understanding the value of a good mentor. They can be hard to find but once you find a person who is willing to take you under their wing it’s life changing. People really are what makes our world go around and can really make our lives better learning from their perspective and knowledge. If you are someone struggling to find your people and place it really is a challenge, where I’m living now I wish there was more of a hiking and adventure scene, but I still found like minded people who align with my morals at a kava bar, just don’t be afraid to join in on a conversation. We don’t hike, but it’s the similar vibe and community I was wanting. The love of nature, art, people, kindness, and community.
So, take a moment today to appreciate the beautiful people who color your life. Send a hug (virtual or real!), reach out to that friend you've been meaning to call. Trust me, your heart and soul will thank you for it!
